[ Arden was distracted for a significant chunk of work today. By the end of it, he has no doubt that it showed, and that Snow White can probably tell something is on his mind. As they're wrapping things up at the bakery, Arden sighs once and then speaks up at last: ]
[Snow was putting away the last of the baked goods that would have all night to rise and set and be baked first thing tomorrow morning before she wiped her hands on her apron. She turned to Arden.]
Everyone talks about it like it's the thing you're supposed to do after boyfriend and girlfriend, something between that and marriage, but how I do it is just...
Arden, you could stumble over every other word, and so long as you're true to your feelings, Namine isn't the sort of girl to say no because you didn't do it a certain way. I'm not sure how well I am to talk about how one does a marriage proposal. I've only ever made the cakes and treats for the receptions, showers, and the wedding itself!
[She reached out and lifted his chin, getting a smudge of flour on his cheek.]
But being honest about how you feel and asking yourselfwhy you want to propose to her and marry her might be the first step.
Well then, Arden, it sounds like you know exactly how you feel and what to say. Speak from the heart, or sing from it, if you feel like you can. The heart can speak just as well as the mind if you let it.
And not at all! I better be allowed to make the cake!
[ He's heard talk like that a hundred times by now. The optimism both never gets old, yet is so corny it shoots the moon and comes back around to sentimental when Arden hears it due to his history. ]

Hey... Snow? Can I... ask you something?

Of course, Arden, you can ask me anything.

I'm...
[ Deep breath. ]
I'm thinking of ... proposing to Naminé.

OH! Oh Arden, that's wonderful! And so romantic! But I'm not entirely sure why you're asking me, dear!

[ He's not angry, just panicking. ]
Everyone talks about it like it's the thing you're supposed to do after boyfriend and girlfriend, something between that and marriage, but how I do it is just...
[ He lowers his head. ]
If I don't do it right, she'll say no.

[ But Snow White gave him good advice all the same. ]
Maybe if I say something like that... But if I start to mess up I'll try to remember what you said. Thank you, Snow.

... Heh. Of course. I wouldn't want anyone else.
